Montague, Pittman & Varnado, A Professional Association was founded by the late Reginald A. Gray in 1947. The firm's current senior member, Frank D. Montague, Jr. joined Mr. Gray in 1953. Today, the firm's eight attorneys continue to maintain a rated practice by providing a full range of Legal services to their individual, business, and governmental clients, in litigation before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. Montague, Pittman & Varnado is listed in the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers, and the following are representative of the firm's current substantive areas of practice: LITIGATION: The firm's attorneys appear before all Mississippi trial courts, the Mississippi Supreme Court, The United States District Courts, Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Montague, Pittman & Varnado attorneys also practice before the Mississippi Worker's Compensation Commission, the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, the State Tax Commission, and other state and federal administrative Agencies. INSURANCE DEFENSE LAW: The firm represents a variety of insurance carriers and insureds located throughout the United States and abroad, have successfully defended many personal injury and wrongful death cases and have significant experience in insurance coverage litigation arising out of or related to motor vehicular claims, products liability, fire, fidelity and surety and casualty claims, professional liability, realtors liability and environmental claims. PLAINTIFF'S REPRESENTATION: The firm successfully represents many personal injury, medical malpractice, products liability, employment and property damage plaintiffs and claimants. REAL ESTATE LAW: The firm provides legal services in all aspects of real estate law, from title searches and preparation of basic conveyance documents, to the representation of individual and commercial clients in major commercial real estate transactions and closings. The firm represents clients in litigation arising from contract, boundary, zoning and land use disputes, as well as other matters related to real estate law. CORPORATE LAW: Montague, Pittman & Varnado helps form limited liability companies, corporations, partnerships and other types of businesses, providing advice to members, officers, and directors on legal consequences of business and employment decisions. Our corporate work also includes preparation of all corporate documents, and representation of corporate and business clients in often complex litigation arising out of day to day operations. COMMERCIAL LAW: Our attorneys represents clients of wide array of commercial law matters, including those regulated under the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), Bankruptcy Code, and various state and federal commercial statutes and regulations. The firm provides counsel to business and individual clients concerning commercial paper, secured transactions, bankruptcy and contractual matters. BANKRUPTCY LAW: Montague, Pittman & Varnado represents both creditors and debtors, business and individual, in bankruptcy and related proceedings. ENVIRONMENTAL LAW: The firm has experience in the areas of environmental and natural resources law, counseling lenders and parties to real estate and commercial transactions relative to environmental risk minimization, representing clients in court, before administrative agencies, in legislative hearings, and in other contexts. In recent years, the firm has been involved in dioxin and creosote defense and asbestos and silica mass tort defense.
