In 1999, Mr. Power obtained a settlement of $100,000,000 for the wrongful death of six children and injuries to the parents, which settlement was the highest of its kind in Illinois history. This case led to the license-for-bribe scandal which involved the indictment of over 70 people and 57 convictions. Those indicted include the former governor of Illinois and his chief-of-staff. Also in 1999, Mr. Power was invited to become a member of The Inner Circle of Advocates and was selected by "The National Law Journal as one of the top four plaintiff`s personal injury trial lawyers in Illinois and one of the best trial lawyers in the country. In 2000, Mr. Power, along with Mr. Rogers, obtained an award in the amount $55,439,269.59, the largest personal injury award in Illinois history. In 2002, Mr. Power settled a case involving the death of a father and injuries to his wife and two children for the entire insurance coverage available in the amount $39,910,186.38. In 2004, a poll of Illinois attorneys published in "Chicago Magazine" named Mr. Power as the highest vote-getter of the top attorneys in Illinois.
